Large inclination conveyor belt joint pay attention to method

The following are some key methods and precautions for splicing high-inclination conveyor belts:

Preparation before splicing

  1. Check the conveyor belt: Thoroughly examine the conveyor belt to ensure its quality and integrity. Check for any damage, cracks, or wear on the belt surface and edges. Make sure that the specifications of the conveyor belt, such as width, thickness, and material, meet the requirements of the actual operation.
  2. Clean the splicing area: Clean the surfaces to be spliced thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, dust, and other contaminants. This can be done using appropriate cleaning agents and clean cloths to ensure good adhesion during splicing.
  3. Gather splicing tools: Prepare necessary splicing tools in advance, including vulcanizing presses (if using the vulcanization splicing method), cutting tools for accurately cutting the belt ends, grinding tools for roughening the splicing surfaces, and measuring tools for ensuring accurate alignment.

Splicing methods

  1. Mechanical splicing:
    • Bolt connection method: Drill holes at the corresponding positions of the conveyor belt ends to be spliced, and then use bolts and nuts to connect them tightly. Pay attention to ensuring that the bolt holes are evenly distributed and the bolts are tightened to the appropriate torque to ensure the connection strength. At the same time, use gaskets or washers as needed to improve the sealing and connection stability.
    • Clamping connection method: Use special clamping devices to clamp the two ends of the conveyor belt together. Make sure that the clamping force is evenly distributed along the width of the belt to prevent local loosening or slipping. This method is relatively simple and quick, but the connection strength may be slightly lower than some other methods in some high-load applications.
  2. Vulcanization splicing:
    • Surface treatment: First, accurately cut the conveyor belt ends to make them straight and smooth. Then, use grinding tools to roughen the splicing surfaces to increase the contact area and improve the adhesion effect. After grinding, clean the surfaces again to remove debris generated during grinding.
    • Apply adhesive and splicing: Apply a suitable vulcanization adhesive evenly on the roughened surfaces according to the manufacturer's instructions. Then, align the two belt ends precisely and place them in the vulcanizing press. Set the appropriate temperature, pressure, and curing time according to the type of conveyor belt and adhesive used, and start the vulcanization process. During vulcanization, ensure stable operation of the press to ensure uniform bonding quality.

Post-splicing inspection and adjustment

  1. Visual inspection: After splicing is completed, visually inspect the splicing area to check for any visible defects, such as uneven bonding, air bubbles, or cracks. If any problems are found, analyze the causes in time and take appropriate remedial measures.
  2. Strength testing: Conduct strength tests on the spliced conveyor belt section if possible. This can be done through simple pull tests or using professional testing equipment to ensure that the splicing strength meets the design and operation requirements. If the strength is insufficient, it may be necessary to recheck the splicing process or consider using other more reliable splicing methods.
  3. Alignment adjustment: Check whether the spliced conveyor belt is aligned properly along the conveying path. If there is misalignment, make timely adjustments to avoid problems such as belt deviation during operation, which can affect the normal operation of the conveyor system and reduce the service life of the belt.

In summary, splicing high-inclination conveyor belts requires strict adherence to proper methods and careful attention to details at each stage to ensure the quality and reliability of the splicing, thereby ensuring the stable operation of the conveyor system on a large inclination.
